WORKERS' RIGHTS & EMPLOYMENT

WORKERS' RIGHTS AND EMPLOYMENT

WR01 We will increase the minimum wage to a living wage as defined by the Living Wage Foundation: £7.85 per hour across the UK and £9.15 in London.

WR02 We will follow the lead of other major economies and phase in a 35-hour working week to allow for healthier, more fulfilling and more sustainable lives.

WR03 We will continue to oppose zero-hours contracts.

WR04 The Green Party will make sure the minimum wage rises at the rate of inflation.

WR05 The Green Party will put limits on how much companies can pay people high in the company ladder, in proportion to how much they pay low end workers.

WR06 We will return power to worker unions, as well as encouraging membership, in order to promote workplace democracy and to achieve mutually beneficial dialogue between union and employer.

WR07 The Green Party will support and improve legislation to make it an offence to harass or discriminate directly or indirectly against people at work, on grounds of race, sex, family status or responsibilities, disability, sexual orientation, religious belief, age, political opinion or physical appearance. This will include people who are disadvantaged by reason of resistance to discrimination.

WR08 We will reform parental leave such that maternal and paternal leave is of equal length.

WR09 We will make equal pay for men and women a reality, including making larger companies publish data about their gender pay gap.

WR10 We will ensure that interns and trainees are entitled to the national minimum wage, except where they could be regarded as volunteers.
